From Classroom Project to Community Hub

Artisway began as a spark in a Startup Programming course at UVic back in February 2024. But from the get-go, we knew it had the potential to be much more - a real solution for our community. With the incredible guidance of Dr. Margaret-Anne Storey and our amazing board of mentors, we transformed this concept into reality in just under three months. We are incredibly excited as our project is now ready for the public!

The Inspiration Behind Artisway

Our team was drawn to the vibrant spirit of local markets. However, we also saw limitations. Vendors struggle with limited hours and table space, and setting up an online store can be daunting and expensive. As buyers, we all want to support local artisans, too, but finding those unique treasures can feel like a scavenger hunt.

As students, we're definitely still learning the ropes. But with your support, we believe we can build something truly special - a thriving community of creative vendors and passionate art lovers, all right here on Vancouver Island! ❤️
